This flag was placed on my truck on September 11 2001. In memory of the people lost on that day. Thru out the year I was going to replace this flag because it was worn out, but something stop me every time I tried. Only a few days ago I realize why, I was waiting for 8:46 AM on September 11 2002. I don't know why I was waiting; it just seemed like something I had to do. I can't explain it and I won't even try, it's just something I had to do. So on my way home from work, right at 8:46 AM I pulled over and changed my flag right along side the road. As I was doing this, the wind started blowing, the bells started ringing, the fire horn sounded and all the traffic going by beeped their horns. It was a moment I will not forget, as it was one year ago.

On that day I didn't lose any family members, I didn't know anyone that was in the World Trade Center, on the planes or at the Pentagon. But I still feel I lost something. Maybe leaving this flag up for the whole year was my little way of showing that I was thinking of the Men, Women and Children that were taking from us.

GOD BLESS AMERICA

I'd worked for all my life,

And I had to start again

With just my children and my wife,

 I'd thank my lucky stars

to be living here today,

'Cause the flag still stands for freedom

and they can't take that away.

And I'm proud to be an American

where at least I know I'm free,

And I won't forget the men who died

who gave that right to me,

And I gladly stand up next to you

and defend her still today,

'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land

God Bless the U.S.A.

 From the lakes of Minnesota

to the hills of Tennessee,

Across the plains of Texas

from sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston

and New York to L.A.,

There's pride in every American heart

and it's time we stand and say:

That I'm proud to be an American

where at least I know I'm free,

And I won't forget the men who died

who gave that right to me,

And I gladly stand up next to you

and defend her still today,

'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land

God Bless the U.S.A.

THE TOWERS STOOD SO MAGNIFICENT
AGAINST THE DEEP AND CLEAR BLUE SKY
THEN SUDDENLY TURNED TO INFERNOS
IN WHICH MANY WOULD ONLY DIE

THE PEOPLE OF THIS GREAT CITY
WATCHED IN HORROR AS THEY FELL
CHANGING MANY PEACEFUL LIVES
INTO A TERRIBLE LIVING HELL

WE THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION
WITH PROUD LOVE AND HONOR SAY
THE ONES WHO CAUSED THIS TRAGEDY
WILL SURELY HAVE TO PAY

OUR FAITH AND HONOR CONTINUE
FOR THIS COUNTRY WHICH IS SO GREAT
WE WILL SURELY CONQUER THESE TERRORISTS
AND FOREVER WE WILL NOT WAIT

OUR FLAG FLIES AS A SIGN OF FREEDOM
AND UNITED WE WILL STAND
ALL OUR POWER AND OUR GLORY
STILL LIVES THROUGHOUT THIS LAND

GOD BLESS THIS MAGNIFICENT COUNTRY
AND THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN SO BRAVE
WE SEND OUR PRAYERS AND LOVE
FOR ALL THAT YOU HAVE GAVE

STAND TALL ALL UNITED STATES CITIZENS
HANG YOUR FLAGS TO FLY OVERHEAD
A TIME OF WORLD PEACE WILL COME
AND SUCH THINGS WE WILL NEVER DREAD
